size air compressor for cleaning tractor radiator fins

Any idea on this? Getting ready to buy one for my shop and this is one thing it will be used for. Also, for filling tires etc. Very limited tool use but maybe something down the road.

Thanks,

Buy the biggest one you can afford! I would look for a cast iron
pump 2 stage with a 80 gal tank. This compressor WILL do
everything you ever need to do and last 20+ years with proper
maintenance.

I agree with Super Trucker, do not get an oil less compressor, about all they are good for is blowing up tires and toys. Not good for any serious work.

Ok perfect. Thanks guys will start looking today

Large enough to operate a low pressure high volume paint gun or a sand blaster . Without having to wait for the compressor to catchup.
Cast iron , 240V.

I agree with super trucker, however CFM is the most important ingredient! I had to stay with single phase to be compatible with my power supply. A 5 hp. motor was the largest single phase compressor I could find, but I am tight, and buying, at auctions. I am a little disappointed with my Quincy 5 hp. 2 stage compressor, because it checks out at 16 CFM, on the MFG's spec sheet. With my big sand blast pot, I really should have 20 CFM, BUT I got by for $850.00, so I shouldn,t complain

Seems to me the cheap compressors are sized by some deceptively high motor horsepower rating but they don't mention CFM's. The good quality ones are more likely to be advertised by CFM's. If you can afford it 17 to 20 CFM's two stage with a cast iron pump will last you many years. It will be a true 5 HP and need 30 amp 220 service for dependable power. If you decide to do limited sandblasting sometime in the future 20 CFM's will let you blast away for five or ten minutes with a smaller nozzle and it will run most common air tools for as long as you want to use them.

The guy at the radiator shop uses a combination of compressed air and water. I think the compressed air hose and water hose were tied together some how.
