Should stop looking at photo ads

I see so many tractors in these ads that I would love to buy but, the hassle and cost for me to bring a tractor from the USA into Canada. Would ,in some cases double the cost of the tractor. There is a nice looking 430 Case Diesel in Liberty KY for example ,$2500.00 and looks like a nice unit. If I lived there, it would have to come home with me. Just too far away to go between milkings,LOL. I see many nice looking tractors in the west too ND and SD , about 1500-1700 miles away. Just teases me silly looking at them. Bruce

Tell me about it I live in Alaska. 8) we are magically two weeks from everywhere. That is the price we pay for living in God's country...
Keep an eye on your local Craigslist of a good deal and keep an open mind.
Good Luck

Just be glad you don't live on Pitcairn Island in the
South Pacific Ocean. The only way to get a tractor
there is to drop it by parachute from an aircraft. LOL

I sold a 444 Massey standard to a Farmer in Ontario last Spring, he came and picked it up. gave him a nice bill of sale, he e-mailed me when he got back, said it only took him about 10 minutes at the border, all was well. he crossed at Sault Ste Marie. He lives and farms north of Toronto.

Believe me Mike it's much worse if you're close to the tractors and just don't have the cash...

The absolute worst is if you *DO* have the cash... Suddenly you don't have the cash anymore, and there's something else filling up your barn.

I have thought the same thing, I live 75 miles from the Canadian border. Sometimes I will see something on line that's really not too far away in Canada. But I just figure it wouldn't be worth the hassle to bring it to the U.S.
Although they tell me its not really too big of a deal to get it over here.

All you have to do is hire the right trucking company they can usually haul them cheaper than you can do it yourself and they will look after all the paperwork so all you have to do is sit in your easy chair and wait for it.

DeltaRed all you have to pay is a small brokerage fee and nothing else on used equipment.I have bought 2 combines and three headers in the US.

I live in ohio and sold a tractor to a guy in Honduras last summer. He picked it up at my place, got a receipt and headed for the border.I got a call from the border patrol in texas the next day.Seems the serial number on the tractor was different than the number on the receipt. The first letter in the serial was an I and we thought it was a 1.I faxed them a new receipt and never heard anymore,so I guess he made it home.

I see Herb Lovas of Russell, Manitoba lists reference to hauling to Clermont, Iowa. Wonder if he is related to the Mike from Clermont that advertises here on YT Photo ads or maybe they have a business relationship.

Any one know?

My other comment in regard to tractors in the photo ads is that most are listed at WAY more than they are typically worth!!

yep him and another guy in sask list them for way too much and then list them shipping to u.s. out of Canada. what a crock! tractor jockey crooks is all I got too say. buy them for next to nothing and put on 400 percent mark up. they don't care one iota about tractors just money. and... plus advertise to purchase these tractors in the news papers and internet.

(quoted from post at 18:52:41 11/21/14) Tractor porn.
Old Joke: Young farmer drives a tractor out from behind the bushes and all the other hands are laughing, kicking and carrying on. The young farmer says "Yeah, well I've seen every one of you drive out from behind the same bushes... After a minute the ol farm hand pipes up and states "Yeah, but you grabbed the ugly one!" :D

It is no hassle at all to bring a tractor from the States into Canada, as long as it is washed clean of dirt and debris and you have a bill of sale/invoice stating seller and purchase price. Here in Ontario we are charged 13% HST sales tax at the border on top of the purchase price of the equipment, but if you're a farmer or business owner you can claim that back anyway. What's hurting us here in Canada right now is the low Canadian dollar, by the time the bank skims a couple of percent on the exchange rate it costs us around $1.16 or $1.17 to buy $1 of American money. By the time you factor that and trucking in, there aren't any deals for us Canadians in the States any more.
