Osprey Fishing

WOW!! What great camera work . I saw one of these great birds dive into the Tippicanoe River and come up with a big bass(?). Happened 50 years ago can still see it. joe
 
We have Osprey near us on the lakes and the river. They are huge. I figure about the size of eagles. First time I ever saw one, was perched on one of the fence posts behind my house. We used to have a Chihuahua that we inherited from an elderly couple that passed on. As a dog lover, the only dog we ever had that I never liked. I let it out in the back yard one time, went in the house, came back after awhile. That’s when I saw that Osprey on the fence post eying that Spanish rat. Good thing for it that Osprey eat fish or it would have been toast. The Osprey saw me and took off, swooping down near the rat then up, up, up and away. Huge birds.

I have a Full size Osprey kit hanging in my barn to keep other birds out. I am a pilot. That is some flying. Love the approaches.
 
had'em nest for several years in a big poplar tree next to my farm pond. Bass population didn't recover for several years. This was in central WV & not near any big rivers or lakes. First time one sailed right over top of me it scared the bejabbers out of me!
 
I have 2 sisters who live on a lake in central Florida. An osprey built a nest on top of an electrical transformer. During a rain, the transformer catches on fire because of the nest. Fire dept comes out and watches it burn. Because it's an osprey, nothing they could do.

Next year, the power company puts an old sat. dish above the transformer for the Osprey. The man who owns the property hates the Osprey. They make a mess, fish heads, poo, sticks. Not to mention, my brother was talking to him when an Osprey pooped on him. Guess you could call it insult to injury.
