Looking at Kubota M8200 MFWD for brother, 4100 hours. What are the pros and cons of this tractor? Would it make a good loader tractor? It has a shuttle shift and creeper gears. Paul

Paul sold a lot of KUBOTAs over the past 28 years. The only time I sold many 8200s was when we could not get the 9000s . 8200 was only 8 hundred dollars less than the M 9000 so most folks bought the 9000. 8200 s are good tractors. There is a cable that goes from the clutch pedal down to the cross shaft. Had a few of these freeze up and have to be replaced. A 4000 hours I would say it has had a clutch put in it or will need one. If it is a cab model you will need to clean the radiator and air conditioner there in front. All in all pretty good hay tractors. j

Leave it alone if it has a dry clutch and is to be used for loader work. For whatever reason, they do not seem to last. (as in less than 1000hrs)If hydraulic shuttle, it's a great tractor.

I think clutch life utilizing a FEL is determined a lot by operator efficiency as well as dry vs wet. I owned a M4900(dry clutch) that had over 1500 hrs on original clutch when I traded it off that had handled several 1000 rd bales with no clutch problems. Granted I like my hydo-shuttle on my M7040 much better.
