Taking it in tomorrow for a replacement. Tire is 40+ years old. They don't make them like they used to.

1949 FORD 8N with ORIGINAL FIRESTONE tires.

It will be the tractor photo for January, in the 2015 FIRESTONE calendar.

Still using these tires after 65 years.

I overhauled an International "H" a few years ago for my dad. The tractor needed new rear tires, so somehow, somewhere, my brother found a single unused NOS rear tire with that same tread that is shown in your photo. The other rear tire we put on it was a regular looking tractor tire that we purchased new.
Now I want to congratulate you for keeping your tires as long as you have, but I will say that same tread on that International "H" is like a pig on ice. In other words, if there is just a little bit of mud, the same rear tire design that is shown in your photo will slip instantly while the other rear tractor tire will dig in and pull.
I know why that design is not popular today.

That treadcame on the new B Farmall in Aug 47 and like you said worthless unless it was dry. Closed center meant they never did wear out thats why you still see them today with most of the tread still there that was their big selling point closed center wear forever.

When I was a kid I think I had worse on my truck. Run your hand over them at your own risk, the dang radials had steel sticking out of them everywhere.

Amazing that I made it to adulthood. The lack of a bicycle helmet alone should have been the end of me.

A Little shoe polish and you are good to go!( see the movie the Fastest Indian with Anthony Hopkins)

Bob, it's a 11.00X12 Goodyear. It began life on a new 4020. Second owner of the 4020 (a friend) swapped it off for a wide front. I surveyed a fenceline for him about 30 years ago, and he insisted that I take it home with me. I didn't want it, but thought it would be trading material. Had a flat on my 630 with hay down, and discovered the single wheel would bolt right up. It rides like a baby buggy. Son has a tire shop, and found an airplane tire in California, and they mounted it for me today. The new tire should put me in my grave.
