Brown smelly stuff #3

How many acres do you get out of a 3000 gallon tank like that? 10? Looks like an AWESOME way to keep people from tail-gating you on the road... :)

Is all the manure surface applied, instead of knifing it in? With the dairy I always hired an applicator that knifed it in and took manure samples. Had to insist that he hold it down to 5000 gallons per acre. That supplied all the fertilizer for corn, with half of the total being available the first year. Knifing in eliminates the smell because the N does not gas off. Knifing also took care of tillage, but there is a machine that can be used on hay ground without disturbing sod too much. (Aerway).

Couple years ago I saw what was likely a custom outfit, big 4 wheel drive tractor pulling a huge set of tanks that knifed it in. Only time I've seen two tanks in tandem.

The operator of this rig use to post on here a year or two ago.

I can just see a liberallady skidding her Prius into the back of that and breaking a hose!ROFLMAO!!!!!

With the advent of mega dairies here, they might hose it a couple of miles to the applicator, as well as tanker it, 9000 gallons at a time, to the field applicator. Some sell it miles away.

Holy cow.. I haven't been on the boards pretty near all season, and I decide to come snoop around and what do I find? This old picture..

I still run her every weather permitting day, but she's not as clean toady as she was then! Probably a lot more hours on the tractor now too.. She's between 5500 and 6000 hours on the clock now.

The picture was taken near Blissfield, MI.. but wouldn't surprise me a bit if you saw one of our units in Indiana. The company I work for has 5 or 6 of these units here in Michigan, and we get sent to do jobs in Ohio and Indiana from time to time.
