Long past time to think about insurance.

Been calling around to get insurance quotes for the farm. There are some real donkeys out there selling insurance these days. AAA covers the vacant land as part of my homeowners insurance but I am putting a building up on the larger piece to keep the equipment secure so it will now need it's own policy. I am not quite there yet but what I am currently wanting to do is insure the combine. Specifically when I move it across the road. I recently discovered that my 60 mile drive across the state in said combine was done without insurance (I thought I was covered). I have to move it another 20 miles now and want protection against those who think they can drive at me. You would think I was asking for a miracle. Is there such a thing as road insurance for farm equipment? Where do you get it?

I think the town I worked for had items that were used in various locations, mowers tractor ect covered under what they called a mobile marine policy. insurance agents chime in please

You need a farm policy, a homeowners will not cover ag related activity. I have a farm policy for my 5 acres, and do not farm. My loader tractor is covered if I am out on the township road, and they will cover tools I use when traveling for work.

That's just liability insurance. It covers the farm, your vehicles and farm operation.I carry a 2 million dollar policy. It doesn't cost much. The machinery has a blanket coverage so I don't have to insure each piece and if I sell or buy something I'm covered.

You should get a farm policy. Mine covers my liability when I'm driving a tractor on the road. I have a blanket coverage on my barns and equipment. Cost is reasonable. I carry specific coverage on my restored tractors because farm policy will not sufficiently cover them or provide liability coverage at a show, cost is very reasonable. Can't call Sam, Jr.(Richard), he got elected to the state supreme court.

Farm Bureau used to be good for farm insurance, but don't know if it is anymore. I would check them out and get their coverage and prices.

OK. Got a few feelers out. Know what to ask when they call back. Ya know, when I was growing up in Farmington (back when it still was a farming-town somewhat), Sam's office was, and still is, just a couple miles down the road from my home at the time. Appreciate the help!

Good luck with them. I had my $7500 dollar completely restored Model B John Deere sitting under a tree hooked to a rake. Was going to move it before dark but I didn't. A nasty storm came up about ten that night. Heard a big crash outside after most of the storm had passed. Went out to check things and found a big tree branch had fell off the tree and mashed the steering wheel and seat and battery box. Went back in and called the Farm Bureau agent and told him what happened. Acted like he didn't know me. Next week I found a different insurance.

You forgot to say what your deductable was. Realy a new batt box and seat with steering wheel isnt that much money your new policy wont pay the first couple hundred either.
