Dump bed pivit rebuild

Some time in the past year there was a post on here showing the rear pivit on a dump bed / box being rebuilt. They used square tubing welded to the frame and bed and then put a shaft through it...reducing the binding of the shaft with a round tube.

I tried seaching the archives but couldn't come up with it. Could the OP or anyone who remembers find or repost the pictures.

Dad has twisted the bed off the old Lou a couple times...and it is time to retire this old beast. I have a slightly younger, but much better truck to put the bed on. I will need to take the box off the good one anyway this winter, I might as well fix it all.

Thanks in advance, Grant

I suppose that yes, there is much less contact with round pin in a square hole but it never really hurt me to grease mine and there was never a problem with the round pin in the round hole. I would be very concerned about dirt collecting in the square tube and causing worse problems later on.

I dont really have a problem with round pin round hole either. But the guy who posted the reman job did real nice work... and trying to line that shaft up with the round bushings can be a bear after a bit of twist. Not that the Square cant be twisted too.

Thank you Jon...I was thinking it might be you.

If I do get into this project this winter, I will try this method. I can only hope my welds end up looking close to yours...I will use the mig too. I will take pics and post back how it works.
