world record plowing

I guess I just love monster machines but that was cool. Now if we could get that down to one tractor. "honey, I'm gonna run out and plow the back 100 before it rains...see you in 20 minutes."

Could be at Rollag, and the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion (WMSTR)). If I remember correctly they pulled the 60 bottom plow a year a two after Case steam engines pulled a 50 bottom. I saw the Case Steamer pull, but missed the 60 bottom pull

The guys on the plow lift the bottoms by hand lever....typically each guy"s job is to run two bottoms.

(quoted from post at 12:41:05 10/30/14) Wonder if ONE of the biggest Caterpillars (D11?) could pull it? Would need quite a hitch.

D11T is 850hp. I've run one in Illinois dirt and the moment she breaks traction the tracks start digging until you're on the belly pan. It takes a very skilled operator to not bury one in the kind of dirt you would farm in, they are far better in rocky underfoot. Not sure it could pull 60 bottoms in any case.

I wonder exactly what record they broke? Most bottoms at one time? Most oil-pulls on a hitch???

The most acres over a period of 24 hours, I think is held by a newer CIH Quadtrac.

What is the weight of a D11 T with a blade in front and ripper on the back? I think weight has as much to do with it as horsepower- as in this case you could pull the plow slow, as in the video. It makes sense though what you say about soft farm ground compared to working in rock.

I googled D11's found the weight listed at 230,581. It would be interesting to see one hooked up to the 66 bottom plow. A lot depends on how deep it's plowing and soil type.
