You want some smog, just come to Colorado and I will give you a truck load of the stuff. I came to Fort Collins thirteen years ago and the air was fairly clear. I read an article on the internet then, that Fort Collins was wanting to be just like Denver. Well, they have finally got their wish. Yesterday the smog was so thick over town it looked just like Denver. The air pollution is slowly working its way up the valley to Cheyenne.

I've been in the Kennekott Utah Copper Mine on the SW side of Salt Lake City (and SLC in general) in the winter and in a hole that deep with all those mining trucks, dozers, and diesel being burned they get an inversion layer so bad that it's hard to breathe. The smog and soot does not come out of that hole for days or weeks until a weather pattern shifts and clears the air for a while. My boss was just at a mine a few hours south of Murmansk, Russia where they were crying for equipment that ran cleaner and specifically asking for natural gas. The industry and the world are all asking for cleaner emissions vehicles and manufacturers are working hard on delivering.
