Long 2610 2510 questions and opinions

I did not get to do much with them but worked on the older 445 460 etc. Ho many of you have the above models and do you like them??? Have they eliminated the problems of the older ones??? How many hours are they good for on the engine??? I am looking at a couple for utility work. thanks to all
 
I have a 360 and a 445. They have had minor issues, but most tractors do. They are good on fuel, and I'd buy others if needed. My 445 has way over 4000 hours on it. The tach works when it wants to. The 360 probably has 2500 to 3000 hours on it.
 
I had a 2610. I really liked the tractor. I put 2,400 hours on it at 10 years. I needed more HP so I traded it in. It was sold within a week. I never had oil leaks like the older ones. I took good care of it changing fluids and filters as manual suggested. Those models have a 9 in. extension added to give more leg room. So it wasn't difficult getting on and off. I used it for haying and feeding cows. Then started pulling a hedlund martin 14ft. side slinger. Had to chain around lift arms to keep from bending or breaking belly bar. It was good on fuel too.

All longs are a little weak on 3 pt. hitch.
 
Just wondering where in Va. your 610 came from? My brother brought one back from Va. a year or two ago, from near Hillsville or Galax area.
 
I have a 460 that I just got. Had to change all fluids, filters and a lot of electric work. No problem getting parts, runs great. Got off from an 8n so the live power and lift make it nice. the extra horses are nice too. 2700 hrs
 

I have a 610 bought new in 1980. It has been a good tractor. If the clutch starts to show being worn out, get it seen about soon. Something about the throwout bearing is no longer produced.

Don't let it run dry of diesel fuel. Getting fuel through the empty lines is a pain. When changing fuel filters do the one at a time and try to fill the new filter with fuel before installing, if possible.

Tractor has good power, will handle a 8 foot disc mower.
