My daughter sent me this. I used to run a Rowcrop
sprayer in that part of the country and did a lot
of work for this kids father.

The young man was severely burned when grain cart auger got tangled in high line. Report this morning sounds like he will make it.
This happened to me 2 years ago. It will be a tuff road for him for awhile. He's 23 or 24 .His age will help him.

The link worked for me.

That is scary. I wonder if he didn't notice the power line situation? Hope he recovers. Pretty quick thinking on the workers part, may have saved his life. BW

North of us where the new windmills are, people are finding out the hard way the installers may not be doing their job very well, a few of the power transmission lines from the turbines to the transformers were found to be only 18" deep, keep in mind these particular lines were supposed to be a minimum of 4 foot deep, and they are very high voltage, if one happens to hook one with a plow or a backhoe, they are not going to the hospital. Serious safety concerns there as well. If you happen to have property that has one of these things, do yourself a favor and make sure you know exactly where the wires run.

If you come into contact with a high voltage transmission line with a vehicle and you have not gotten zapped you are supposed to jump as far as possible away from the vehicle/equipment as possible then shuffle farther away (don't walk/run normally never breaking contact because the electricity can conduct through the ground). Do not try going back to the vehicle/equipment for any reason. Let trained firefighters/first responders handle it from there.

This info comes from a heavy equipment forum I'm a member of. If you have any questions regarding this you should contact your local power company. They should have safety info available for free.
