Thank's Larry, I like this time of year for tractor spotting. I have seen 2 Oliver backhoes this week while driving to jobs. Greg

The whole issue was the foolish place where they ran the ground cable to. They were grounded to the cowl behind the dash. It didn't take but a couple of years for them to rust and corrode between the cowl and frame and loose the ground. If you just run a longer ground cable from the battery to one of the starter bolts it solves the problem. Unfortunately,Oliver never changed that fault during production.

rrlund, we had the same problem with my employer's 580M Case TLB. We ended up running ground cable from battery to bolt just above starter. He bought it brand new in 2001 and it was only a few years old and would turn over slow. Starts fine now. Greg

Beautiful! I love old Olivers ,of course I am beginning to think I am addicted to old tractors. I also love old Fords, Farmalls, John Deeres and Molines although I don't own any Molines..... yet.
