G.Day,
Thinking about a new 3pt hitch snowblower. 7ft single auger would be fine. I have a 60hp tractor. I have a north American now, it doesn't blow cr@p!

Smyth, lucknow, farmking.... does anyone have another brand?

Good? bad?
thanks

I have a 7ft farm king, single auger, that I bought basically new. It had been used twice. It does a good job, and is all I need in most snow storms. Before the farm king, I had a 7 ft dual auger new idea. It was older, and worked ok, but had only manual turn on the chute. I will say there is a difference in how far the snow is tossed, and i think it is because of the diameter of the fan. Double auger, larger fan. Single auger, smaller fan. In 3-4 ft drifts, the single auger will toss it about 25-30 ft out into the field along the driveway. The double would toss it more like 50ft.
I guess if you live in a place where you get lots of snow and drifting, you may want to consider the dual auger option. If it is little drifting, the single auger will be fine. I've used the single auger on snow falls of 18" or more with no drifting, and it handled it with ease. As far as the farm king brand, I'm very satisfied.

John Deere sells a nice one through there frontier brand.

The single auger Farm King/Buhler would be a good choice for your 60 HP tractor. The double auger ones are usually taller with a larger impeller. They take more horse power.

The current Farm King model is a 8420. An that has a 25 inch impeller. The weight is about #1000 so your 60 HP tractor should lift it OK.

I would also recommend tire chains. You will be going slow in reverse so the tires do not bite as well.

Where are you located and what kind of snow do you have to work with: three inches of wet heavy snow four times a year; six feet of dry snow a year; or drifting wind blown snow that packs hard into the yards and needs to be blown out almost daily until the fields crust over?

Pronovost or Normand if you want a good one. Lucknow if you want a cheap one. Frontier if you want a broken one.
