Busy weekend!!!

This weekend has been a busy one so far.

The Grand Daughter's trail ride is going on. I spent yesterday working on shoes/horses for the girls and their friends. Might need a testosterone booster as I was the only male with 16 girls and 10 Moms. The estrogen kind of blinded me for a while. LOL

I escaped today. I went with a friend to the Harvest day down at Ottumwa, Iowa. Great weather.

Tomorrow I need to get the leaves cleaned up before it rains Monday. The light rains/heavy fog we had Thursday really took the leaves of some of the trees. If I don't keep ahead of them they will be two feet deep around the back door if the wind blows.

I will post some pictures of the Ottumwa Harvest Day in another post.

Sounds boring compared to the past. Those posts about shoeing horses and going to the fancy stable to show them how its done were great. Always look forward to your stories.

What a mess the leaves will be in the spring if you don't get them now! I get a lot of leaves but they don't bother me. My neighbor has one of hose shredder-vacuums the pulls on the back of his LGT. I do some tractor work for him from time to time so he vacuums my leaves for me.

Did that young lady ever make it for you to teach her the art of blacksmithing and making a shoe?

Yes she has been over several times. She is a good young lady that enjoys learning how others do things. She also has shown me some more modern ways of using the small propane forges. One of them is now on my wish list.

I still go over to the fancy horse stables every few months. Found out the owner is not only a pretty lady but a nice person who just happens to have some money.

She pointed out something to me the last time. It was how many of the farmers have as much as she does but it is in their land value so it just does not "show" as fancy as her stables. She is correct in that there are many with a lot of assets. There are good and bad whether your rich or poor.

One of my Grand Daughters is starting to learn how to use the forge and work with steel/iron. She still wants to go to college but wants to learn how to shoe her own horses.

It is kind of funny that she is interested when none of my sons want anything to do with blacksmithing. It shows how the roles of the sexes has changed over the years. I can just imagine what my Great Grand Father would say about that. LOL He talked about how women voting was ruining the country.
