Just one of those days

So I got up thismorning with big plans and even a back up plan.

Was going to wean some calves off in the morning, should take an hour or 2 tops. Well I managed to get 4 of the 20 I wanted before a cow got a door open and let the rest back out to pasture. Well I guess we will let them calm down for a day or 2 before we try that again.

Then I had a few things to do to the combine to get ready for beans. Figured I could get that done, have some lunch then then start combining finally. Beans still didn't feel right, ok I will go ponder and tinker for a couple hours.

About 3 I went out and got a sample to take to get tested. Saw 9 combine in 3 country blocks doing beans. Gah mine are still 0.6% to wet.

Well its ok, I have a back up plan, I will go plow some wheat ground under to kill out the day. Got hooked up, went down the field on one side, pulling pretty decent, one wet spot that I expected. Got turned around going the other way on the other side of the field, waaay to wet, couldn't pull it, wouldn't turn the dirt over.

Ok im done. go feed the 4 calves and the cats, grabbed the dog and headed home. Now theres not even anything on tv.

Hope tomorrow is better.

wouldn't do me any good if the co-op wont take them.

Around here I play elevator roulette. One of the towns doesn't dock at all for foreign material (but they do dock minimally for test weight) but beats you over on moisture. Another town isn't too picky about moisture but rakes you over the coals on foreign. It wouldn't have been too big of a deal, although if the weather is supposed to stay nice you may as well wait. I haven't been in the field in several days. We got 40/100 a few days ago and that was enough to push it over the top. Before that I had a few spots that took the RWA to get through. I don't want to have to take a front loader out to smooth it enough to drill wheat. There was rain in the forecast for Monday but they have taken it out. Today it was 85 and I cut firewood.

As Dad used to say, "Some days, you just can't make a cent."
