I guess that they have been out there, but I never saw one until tonight. A John Deere combine, S-6xx series with 36" wide tracks on it. Man that thing was a monster. Someone in Three Oaks, Michigan coming at me from the other direction tonight on US-12. A lot of rain in the general area lately, that has to be what the doctor ordered for flotation. I went to Deere to look it up and they don't show a picture of one, but mentions it under "Build Your Own". Not a cheap option. Impressive. Very impressive.

The modification of combines with track systems is common in wild rice farming. (not natural wild rice harvesting with a boat) The size is not usually huge due to modest flood fields and levies with narrow gates. Interesting though. Jim

Claas have had tracks as an option for years. Way back in The 1960's The Matador could be fitted with tracks for rice farming.

Tracks from Deere $100,000.00 installed. tracks made by a Canadian firm, $72,000.00 installed.A friend of mine rents his ground to his Son-in-law. They just installed the tracks made by the Canaian firm on a S-680 John Deere.

I used to run a Claas Lexion 585R and 760TT combines on tracks. Incredibly heavy machines. Something like 40,000 lbs with a 9,000 lb header on the front. They would float over just about anything. The CIH 2388 would sink and barely back itself out of the mud, and the tracks would barely leave a mark. Not quite invincible, I did sink it 3 or so times, but it wasn't hard to pull out.

Corn #3.00 per bushel times 24,000 bushels equals
$72,000. Might work for some Custom Operators or large farmers if conditions stay real wet.
