Has anyone took a vacation to a working ranch? If
so what one was it and did you like it? I'm
thinking of talking the wife into going to one
preferably in Montana. Any suggestions are
appreciated.

Sorry, own, operate, live on a ranch, and am around many cattle/horse/corn ranch/farm/dairies. Wouldn't pay to visit one. :)

Hi, I saw your post on working dude ranches, go to your search engine, type "working dude ranches" and the list is nearly endless. Pete

Actually there are people who sell vacations on their farms and the city folks are buying these vacation packages. Imagine people who have never been on a farm in their lives coming to your farm and paying you not only for room and board but to work for you. I was very amused when I first heard of it.

I would be leery of the liability of letting city folks work on a farm or ranch. If something happens, after the lawsuit is done they own your ranch.

McGinnis Meadows in Montana.

And ignore all the guys who think it means paying to do someone's chores. Private log cabins with maid service. Meals are in the main lodge, prepared by the on-staff chef.

Yes, you can do all the ranch work you want (in the middle of the Rockies). Spend the whole weekend working cattle. Or, you can sleep in. Go trout fishing. Whatever.

Yes, I see now after reading the comments.

I would not allow city slickers on my land. I do not own a farm, just land with trees. If some joker wanted to come to my place so he could "practice" cutting down a tree then I would say, You stand over there after I drop the tree and you can stack the logs.

I knew a guy that was a city slicker himself. He went on some sort of dude ranch event. Might of been a cattle drive, or whatever. Afterwards he was a life long cowboy himself to hear him tell about it. Truth was, he didn't know anything. He took it upon his self to promote this dude ranch stuff. It was just comical to see this guy at conventions and stuff promoting a dude ranch when he himself didn't know anymore than the people he was talking to. Dude ranches are not for me.
