Kwik-cut constantly breaking sections

I posted this in the combine section but figured more eyes would see it here.

So this is my first time using this head on my white 7300, I managed to get it through wheat but broke a dozen or so sickle sections on it, I replaced all the broken and worn out ones before I started beans. Well today I did a few hundred feet to get a moisture sample of the beans and there is probably a dozen broken again, even the brand new ones I put on the other day. What is causing this? I have no experience with this style so go easy on me. Thanx.

Does the reel have steel pickup teeth on it?

If so maybe the reel is set to lower and the teeth are getting into the sickle.

Check the teeth for groves cut into them or see if the broken sections have notices from the teeth.

IA Gary is more than likely correct on the cause of your section braking issue. Reel set too low.

I always set my reel so it can't get into the sickle.

Who the heck typed this anyway?

I meant notches not notices.

Must have been tired last night.

Well Gary, you were almost right. The cutterbar on this head floats, so if I had the head set to low, the cutterbar was coming up into the reel. Thanks again for your help.

You need to raise the reel to where it will not make contact with the sickle when the cutter bar flexes up to its highest point as it follows the ground contour.
and catch the sickle if you don't get the reel up
You never know when the flex head will flex up to where it can never have interference with the sickle.
