BW GN Hitch vs. Curt

Looking at B&W Flip-over ball GN hitch for $439 or a Curt Flip-down ball for $300. Both 30k lb. This won't be commercial or OTR, just a few loads of moo's, tractors, and some hay and straw. The B&W seems to be more common around here, but I don't really like the rod and latch set-up. And I've heard that you the ball can get stuck in it's sleeve if you leave it too long. Curt seems simpler, but $139 cheaper leads me to believe it's not built as heavily. Has anyone seen or used the Curt? Thanks!

I got a B&W hitch for way less than $439. Google gooseneck hitches and I'll bet you can beat that $439 price...I put one on my Dodge a year or so ago and I recollect the price was in the $200 to $300 range. The hitch works fine, I've turned it over a couple of times with no problem with it sticking in the sleeve.

I did not have a Curt brand, but I did not like the flip down ball, mine was very difficult to flip up. dirt and junk were always jaming it up. I had to make a "special" pry bar to use everytime I needed it. my new truck has a flip over ball, so far I have not has one problem with it. there are not any nooks and crannys for dirt to jam it up. new one is a Ready Goose brand

I have a B&W on my Chevy 1 ton duramax. No problems with flipping the ball or the release rod. The mounting bolts on my hitch loosen periodically. I put locktight on them this last go round.Hopefully this will solve this problem.

I put a B&W in my 2001 when it was new. I've never had an issue with the ball sticking. I do have an issue with the rod not latching in the out position, but a pair of vise grips will keep the rod where it belongs while I turn the ball over.

I have the flip down ball in my F-250 (not sure of brand), it has been in there for 9 years with no problems. I made a rod with a hook on the end, and I can flip the ball up or down from the ground behind the tailgate.

My preference is a Drop n lock. Flips from the top side of the bed. If it freezes in in the winter a little heat from a propane torch will free the ball.

I've had 2 B&W flip over balls, one in my f350 and one in a 98 dodge i sold. I like them, but with no treatment they an stick a lil, however nothing a shot of kroil and a days wait didn't fix.

If you will tell me who it was he will never sell another one. All B and W dealers including myself are required to sign a contract to become a dealer and not sell below a certain price which is now 439.00. He has violated his contract and B and W will pull his dealership in a heartbeat.
