Some of my family in Ohio told me about this very brave young lady!!!!

She has a very rare form of cancer. She has a tumor at her brain stem. There is nothing they can do. This type of cancer is usually in kids 5-10 years of age. 90% fatality rate. She is 19.

She wanted to play one basketball game for her college team. Her health has gotten worse. Her school actually moved their season opener up to try to allow her to play before her health deteriorates too much more.

Here is a link to more of her story!!!!

Dean: Things like this make me feel really helpless and sad. Here is a good kid being stricken from this earth. Then we have all kinds of people that are rotten to the core and they live long and healthy lives.

I really feel for her family. I hope to never have to see one of my kids die.

Great story, makes one feel selfish of our aches and pains. Hard to see anyone suffer with cancer, especially kids. My first wife died in 1988 of cancer. Shortly before that her youngest son of 8 years old lost two close friends at school, the first wanted to live so much but cancer won out. The second took his own life. Never any good answers to why, had no known medical issues. Just pray that cancer is defeated one day soon.

I have been following the stories on this
young lady. There are moments in my life &
get into a argument with God as why things
like this have to happen to young people that
have qualities beyond so many others. I lose
my discussion with God after a day or so of
pondering over this issue.. If she can inspire
1, 2. or 3 people that change their life to the
better & each those people inspire another. And
list goes on, Jesus will tell her welcome home
my faithful follower, you've done well..

I have a long history with girl's basketball. Made a couple of friends in the process. Enjoyed watching the games. Overall, however, the negatives outweighed the positives. Truly the combination of parents, children, coaches and, of course the big contaminant, "college money" can make for a lot of unpleasant scenarios. It is always inspiring when some good comes out of it all. Thanks for posting this. Made me remember the better side of it. Actually made me tear up a bit.

Amazing young woman.

I pray I never have to walk in her parents shoes... losing a child would be so hard to bear.
