Re: Drone update

Couple of months ago I found a drone tangled in a
fish seine in my shed. Turned it into the county
sheriff. Come to find out that the drone was
reported stolen last year in another state. State's
attorney has decided that there was not enough
evidence to file charges against the person of
interest in my area. So nothing's going to get
done. I'll just have to make sure the shed is
locked when ever I'm not in it.

Chuckling a little bit,but don't you just need to close the door? It's doesn't need to be locked does it?
Got an image of something from the Jestons here where the drone is trying to open the door but finds out it's locked. lol

Yep the the folks that stole the drone was using it to case out your place you're fortunate it got snagged in the net.I'd think Piano wire would be good to knock down a few drones its hard to see and very strong.

The kids model airplane won't be flying into your shop taking pictures of things that thieves are looking to steal for starters.

You can get your own. Just google the subject and you can watch videos of them in action. Got the price, order form and everything you need to buy your own.

A "drone" has 4 or more propellers, but no wings. It hovers on the propellers, and has a sophisticated stabilization system that allows practically anyone to fly them successfully with no training or experience.

You can get a perfectly flyable "drone" at any hobby shop and many higher-end toy stores.

People are all upset about these drones because they can be used for nefarious purposes, and want them regulated if not outlawed. Sound familiar?

Only problem is there isn't an amendment to the Constitution for the right to keep and bear drones...

Young fellow next door spends 6 months of the year in Afghanistan as a civilian contractor flying drones, then 6 months here. Very good pay, I understand, if you don't mind the risks and the environment.

I have no problem with them if 1)they are on private property where they have permission to be
or 2)On public property like parks are National Forest.Anyway there are going to be so many liability lawsuits against the drones owners that the situation will take care of itself eventually.

rrlund, yeah closing the door will keep the drones out, but what I'm concerned about is who ever was operating the drone may have been looking to see what he could steal.

Greg, I do have photos of the drone. Problem is, I don't remember which scan disk I stored it on. I'll see if I can find them when I have some extra time

FAKE!

I've seen that video before. It was done with CGI.

First off the "gun" has no action. It's just a barrel off an AR or AK, can't remember which without watching through the video again.

Second off, there is no way that that little machine could withstand the recoil of the 5.56 or 7.62 rounds that they are supposedly firing at the car. One shot would send the thing completely out of control.

The machine carrying the "gun" is real. It's a standard quadcopter that can be purchased at a hobby shop.

The car is real.

The explosion is real, done with pyrotechnics.

Everything else is CGI and sound effects.

Saw one at the farm show in Moultrie, GA. It was fixed wing. Propeller in the center back. Launched by throwing it in the air, lands automatically, programmed to stop with the propellers horizontal so it doesn't drag the ground. Used to mount an infrared camera for checking crops, but a regular camera can be mounted. Wingspan about 5 feet. Cost AIRC $16,000.

I have an idea. Go to the next state over, wearing a fake Groucho Marks nose and glasses, and buy one under a fake name, but leave it at the store and tell them that you will be back for it. Then drive over to the police station and show them the receipt and report it stolen, still wearing the fake Groucho Marks nose and glasses, fill out the report and leave. Still with me? Now, go back to the store and pick it up and drive it back to your state. Now...on Monday, write the name of the not enough evidence current suspect on it, and from a parking lot around the corner, fly it through the window of the state's attorney's office, and then just drive off. Oh, one more thing. When you do that? I would be wearing the fake Groucho Marks nose and glasses just so no one knows that its you. If I were a lawyer, I'd charge you for this advice, but since I'm not...I won't.

A "drone" is any remote controlled aircraft, fixed wing or not, propeller driven or jet.

I believe the predator and reaper "drones" the military is firing AGM-114 Hellfire missiles from are jet aircraft.
