Doing power steering to a farmall M

Some time ago I asked about power steering for a farmall M. I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who answered me back. I had called Stiener tractor parts and asked for a an email of stuff to consider. Yesterday I order the parts for the power steering system for the tractor and I had even order the Char- lynn power steering Manuel book witch I hope will help me out with installing the system. I did have to a reservior tank for the pump witch I had an old tank that came off of a case 430 hydrostatic steering system. I think I can use it with that char- lynn system. Thanks again you all where a big help. Brent

On my dad's m they used a unit out of a 450 plumed into the m hydraulic it worked good with no trouble

i think you will be very happy. i have the char-lynn ps on 2 of my m's, an h, and my w-9. really makes a comfortable tractor out of em.

I built my own system from scratch. Used a belt driven Vickers style vane pump, and a Charlynn torque generator mounted in the same style as a Behlen unit. The Vickers pump also provides live hydraulics for the Farmhand loader and whatever else I might want to add. The power steering made it possible for me to actually use the tractor.
