ford model a

If you are talking about a car or truck,
they didn't have one. Have to get an aftermarket one.
Macs, or some other model A parts place.

I assume you're talking about the 2nd run of Model As sold 1927-1931. Not the first ones that came out in 1903. There were many "accessory" air cleaners available and used in Ford Model As and AAs late 20s, early 30s. Some of the AAs has kits with oil-bath air-cleaners. Some of these kits were sold and installed by Ford dealers even though the parts were not sourced from Ford. Same sort of situation with Model Ts and Ruckstell 2-speed rears or "Rocky Mountain" brake kits. Not designed by Ford but still very common back then - and now on collector's cars.

I have several model "A" Ford cars and trucks. They did not come with air cleaners for the carb.
they were later available from aftermarket suppliers. A couple of my cars are equipped with them. They are just a simple device and nothing like a modern air filter. I guess Henry didn't see a need for them. He could be right because several million still are running

Henry didn't think Model Ts needed any wheel brakes either. That did not stop many companies from offering them and many owners to install them. Ford was trying to keep the initial purchase price as low as possible and kind of left it to owners or dealerships to add the extra goodies if wanted by owners.
