to buy or not to buy

looking at a 2001 ih loader for my 504. It came off a 560 so shouldn't take too much welding if any at all. The guy wants 1500 for it which is reasonable.

504 was a short frame 4 cylinder 560 is long frame 6 cylinder. Not in the same family, yes you can make it fit, but no will not be easy. Probably going to have to change all the mounts.

I have a IHC 2001 loader on my 756. It has a label (fits 460, 504 and ?). Front mounts should work fine, they are made to fit several bolt patterns and the frame just rests on top of the mounts. The rear mounts on the axle and should be fine, if the loader frame is made for the larger tractor, the front cross member will simply set forward about 5" in front of the radiator.
The loader may also be made for a 504 like mine was and then needs about 5" added to the rear frame rails to mount on the axles when used on a larger tractor as mine. My loader has a 5" extension added with long bolts, no alteration to the loader. Nice loader too.
