Anyone Ever Repower a Japanese Compact??

Just wondering how extensive it would be to re-power a Japanese compact with a more domestic power plant. Any thoughts?

Me too. I have about 20 Kubotas with bad engine,none alike. PLEASE someone come up with a solution. At the auction they bring scrap prises.

Are you saying that you have 20 Kubota tractors with blown or needs rebuilt engines?

Buy them by the pound,fix what is cheap and use. Try to fix the rest or scavenge them. I don't buy many new parts,never have to buy tires new.have some nice old Yanmars, but old kubotas nder 30hp aren't much in this Fl heat. we use and abuse.

the kubota is metric the american models are not it wont fit very good without a lot of work.

You're trying to match SAE to Metric, everything's close but not quite close enough. I ran into that same problem when I repowered a 1980 Toyota pickup with a Buick V-6. :>)

Why bother? Why not just buy a domestic tractor with factory fitted power if you're looking for domestic power? Wouldn't you be way ahead of the game that way and probably save a ton of money and headache?

Or started taking better care of them ! Kubota engines are as good or better then any.
