Cub Cadet GT2544 PTO clutch wobble

We just installed a new PTO, torqued it down as required, put the belt on properly. The belt was very tight on the clutch, as I suspect it should be?

It starts up fine, but then the PTO begins to wobble. I believe I recall the original PTO did not do that and was steady, but I might be wrong.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. :x

by any chance did the clutch come apart while you were trying to install it? We had one come in on another make mower, customer said "could not keep belt on it". it had fallen apart when he changed the drive belt and he had the brake pads on the wrong side of the clutch plate.

We had another mower come in that the clutch wobbled, there was a noticeable groove where the clutch bearing went on the shaft. Since the clutch that was on it had a good bearing, we surmised that the previous clutch had the bearing lock up and spin on the shaft.

The new clutch had come apart before we put it on and we thought we had it back together properly. It looks like the old one that was taken off, which we compared it to. The old one had locked up and the blades kept running at all times--PTO control either in or out.

When we first put the new clutch on, the stop stud that keeps it steady to the engine snapped off. We got a new one and this is the result. We just checked to make sure the parts were all in place properly and re-torqued.

Appreciate your input.
