Not the way you like to bring them home

The wagon started pulling awful hard this morning then it tipped right up on it's front. Startled the daylights right out of me,couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. I backed up and it came down. I got off and looked and the reach was driven right in the ground. There was an old scabbed up weld that broke and let it drop down in the dirt. The darned thing reared far enough for the cross conveyor to leave a mark on the tongue. I had to come home and get a jack and some chains so I could get the reach raised up and get everything chained together. The reach is bent so bad I don't know if I have any way of straightening it.

You were supposed to be done with problems for this year! LOL
Do you have a press you could put it in to straighten it?

Sure looks bent to me. I've had pretty good luck straightening stuff with an oak 6x6, some 3/8" log chain, and a 4 ton bottle jack. But I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't have to remove the rack to fix it.

Been thinking I need to find something to hold it then use the down pressure of the loader to straighten it.

and I was thinking this type of thing could only happen to me, Wow - things could have ended much much worse than they did. Happy no one was hurt. A steel supply Co. should have that same tubing if you have to replace it. I'm going out now to take a good look at my gears.

Oh well... nobody got maimed. I'd replace the pipe. Probably easier and cheaper than trying to straighten it.

Most reaches I have encountered were standard pipe sizes.

2" pipe is 2 3/8",
2.5" is 2.875",
3" is 3.5"

Several years ago, I had a similar thing happen to a pole on a forage wagon. If the pole had not stuck in the ground the wagon would have run into the back of the harvester. First thought was that the draw bolt had jumped out even though there was a key in the bolt.

Rrlund, we used to use the wood splitter to straighten many things. Place a square block of oak or maple cross grain of the splitter wedge, put another 4x4 oak across the other end of splitter and lay bent piece against 4x4 and go at it.

If it was mine I would stick a new pipe in there. I had one do that a long time ago and that was the fix

Hi Thats not sounding like fun. I think if it was me a new pipe would be the best fix. That ones going to need straightening, and re enforcing to get the strength back and to probably stop it bending again.
I've read a few of your replies since coming on the forum, i think your probably more of a fix it right guy, if your going to do anything with this mess.
