NH elevator again

Remember I made some parts for Jeff's NH hay elevator? Well, that part is working fine. However, the drive sprocket on the mow conveyor wore out. Had hay to unload NOW, of course, so i went to the Case IH guys to pick up a new one. Planned on buying two and throw one on the shelf for a spare. Price; $171 !!!!!!! Guess I won't buy two. The company salesman just happened to be at our place when i got back delivering Jeff's skid steer. He said that there is not much demand for the elevator parts anymore, thus low volume/high price. Since the sprocket uses 2040 link chain, he sugestted having a machinist weld a regular # 40 sprocket on the collar. The 2040 chain would just use every other tooth. Got two of the collars with worn out sprockets. Gonna make a trip to the local machinist in the next few days and drop poff one of them with the new one as a pattern and see what kinda price he quotes me.

Gonna do a little snooping around for other sources for the sprocket, too.

shoups in kankakee il sell weld a sprockets. they sell the sprocket in the diameter and chain size you need, then you buy the bore to match your shaft and weld em in. pretty in expensive way to go. shoup parts dot com.

Thanks. I'll check into it.
My cousin used to own a tractor supply store. He was affiliated with Central Tractor Parts for years (before they reorganized as TSC) and he kept an infinate supply of sprockets and shaft/collars. Sure do miss his store. TSC is a decent store, but nothing like CTP was.
