Picking corn in Michigan today

I saw a local farmer filling the semi with shelled corn.
I was quite surprised. Seemed pretty early.
Anyone else harvesting in the area?

Gotta be high moisture corn, sure can't afford to dry it much at
the current price. They've only been taking silage around here
for the last week or so.

Not even close to being ready near me in
central MI. Local farmer here alleges he loses
less to combine at 30% moisture and dry it then
leave it for the extra month to dry on its own
due to deer and raccoon damage. Done it that
way for years....

I don't have a clue what the moisture content was of course.
I do know it was the only field around here with the stalks full yellow.
The corn on my place is yellow less than half the way up.
This field is only two and a half miles from mine.

Finishing early beans tomorrow, going to shell a small place
that is down to 18% to make sure every is good with corn
head. NW IN

Saw three farmers out combining corn this afternoon. (Southern Wisconsin) Their fields looked pretty dry. There is quite a lot of green stalks in a lot of other fields.

In my area of northern Michigan just below the Mac
Bridge, potatos and sugar beets are all dug up.
Half the corn is gone and I see machines
harvesting beans now.

Plan is to start tomorrow here in Western PA. I have wheat to get in, and found a customer in need of corn now, which will help offset the drying cost.

This is all assuming I finish the bin today...

Panted our Corn May 10th 92Day, West Central Wisconsin, some parts of the field are drying down nice, others still somewhat green, I will post when we start. I few people combining High Moisture Corn this week. we have not had a (Hard Frost) yet.

One neighbor is drying corn with already-paid-for propane left from last year, but he says once that's gone, he'll stop combining. He wants to get some cover crop rye and vetch on what he's able to get done now, before it gets too cold.
