I mowed 10 days ago, it looks as if I mowed it yesterday. Next time I mow it will be to mulch leafs, then pick them up and put on mulch pile.

I sometimes put leafs on garden, but we haven't had a frost yet.

Grass is slowing here in Tx., too. Will probably mow for the last time tomorrow.

Leaves are starting to turn and fall, too.

Summer is gone, fall has arrived.

Here in northern Indiana every thing is changing fast. It's strange here this year the black walnuts still have leaves and they are normaly gone by mid to late Aug.. I am going over yard with mower just as much as before but now grinding up leaves and putting them back on yard .

Spring was a full 2-3 weeks behind compared to previous years, no wrong or right as who is to say "when" is punctual LOL ! Blossoms and the grasses on the small field adjacent to the house were later this year. I cut that field 6-21 and it was still green, heads topped out, in other years it would have been past its prime as hay grasses by that time, not this year, would have been high yield and good feed value. Funny how you remember silly things like this, but can walk back in the garage for something, then forget what you went in for LOL !

Fast forward, the pears were precisely 2 weeks late, still have a few on the tree, latest I've picked those that I can recall, almost October, by now they are usually gone. The trees are loaded with color, I'd say 2 weeks or more early, trees will be bare a lot sooner this year, especially if we get some high winds, which will usually happen.

Well its an all out effort to process as much wood as I can, beyond what I need for the year, just in case, seems like it could be a harsh winter.

getting so much daily rain here that if i mow. i need to mow again in 3 days.

i had expected grass to start to shut down and went and picke dup plenty of round bales.. and have not even unloaded them off the trailer yet...

I grew up on a dairy farm in N In, Knox, Starke county.

Went home for spring break and when I got back to Terre Haute, 150 mi south, it was strange to see leafs on trees, green grass, a totally different climate.

Same is true if you go 50 more miles south. In spring there are blooms on dogwood trees a few weeks before we have blooms in TH.

You grew up not from us we live up at Laporte ,IN. My daughter lives at Fishers In.( 132 miles away) and they seam to be about two weeks ahead of us as far as weather and seasons goe.

My cousin lives in Laporte, Paul. Laporte is only 25 miles north of Knox. In the 50's and 60's my dad's dairy was on the edge of Knox, on the yellow river. He called it the Riverside Dairy. I would go to Laporte to the Lenox dairy and pick up some dairy products. Are they still in business?

Laporte is in the lake effect snow belt.

George Lenicks Dairy has been gone for a long time. They had a dairy store & a soda shop up front and had good malts and milkshakes. It has had a few small bussiness after closing but the building sets empty now. We shipped our milk to Dixie Dairy in Gary,IN.and later shipped to Burgers Dairy in New Paris,IN. I have some of glass milk& cream bottles from Lenicks and some of the other dairies that were in LaPorte county.
