Quads on a combine

I could believe that if running in a rice field. Still remember when I lived in Mississippi how many combines and doziers would be stuck in a rice field during harvest time for rice

Whether the finals do or don't hold up, if that's what it takes to get the harvest in, that's what it takes.

I will once again ask: What happened to your "git 'er done" spirit? If it's you, any kind of duct tape and baling wire fix is perfectly acceptable, and God help anyone that dares critique you. When it's someone else, out comes the snarky commentary.

Two per is enough for me.....but I got the same argument from a tire dealer when I dualed a smaller combine, that the finals would get stressed. I told him getting stuck with singles is a major stress on finals, when duals can walk over the top. Haven"t broken anything yet on either machine.

i could see the quads if the ground was that soft for harvest, but, does he need to fill the grain tank that full??

That's a tarp cover on the grain tank... can't tell from the photo if it's flax or canola he's combining... straw looks like canola but they usually chop it not drop it...

Wayyyy back in our case 600 days we had duals on front and rear and we harvested soys right in standing water. Beans in the field don't pay the bills.

Just a few weeks ago I was in Saskatchewan with my job and saw a lot of combines with hard covers like this over the bin. Makes sense I suppose if you get caught by a sudden rain. They have been fighting a lot of mud there this year.

Probably not canola being harvested in the picture; all the canola I saw there was swathed. (That's what I was there doing.)

looks pretty ridiculous to me. obvious the owner has more money than brains. not even a rut or muddy tracks in sight. maybe if he swathed the grain , then he would not have to hold up that heavy straight cut header with combine and need 4 tires. or when axles break off in the mud or strip something his lights may turn on. ha ha.

Thanks- it unbolts if I want to put the old one on. I leave it on all the time- lets me run duals when needed, easier to get on board than a vertical ladder. I also added a catwalk on the unloading auger to save climbing up and down to access the engine compartment.

It looks like flax he is harvesting. I know the area has had extreme rainfall. We are not quite as bad here but still tricky getting around and I see some big ruts in the neighbor's fields where they got stuck with duals. My 1660 CIH is doing ok with singles and I would not risk dualing it up as I have heard the final drives on the 16 series were a little light duty.

You'd have to be careful. I am almost willing to bet the outside 2 tires only have a couple pounds of air in them - just enough to keep their shape.
