OT - Say hello to Uncle Frank

This is my Uncle Frank. He was up for a visit today.
From his place in Indiana to my place in Michigan.
He had on a new hat that said Korea/Vietnam.
He is a veteran of both wars and just beat double pneumonia.
Got out of the hospital on Wednesday.
He still works on tractors, mostly garden tractors now.
I think he could still out work me on a good day!

Your Uncle Frank went thru a lot being in both wars.
In todays world, I wonder if it was in vain.
If a person likes patriotic music from the Koren era, Jimmie Osborn had a lot of good songs.

Uncle Frank,

Don't know you, but I will thank you. Perhaps, that you are unrecognized, under appreciated, but I will stand and deeply accept your contributions, with all the honor I can muster.

What was in that cup in his pocket anyway?
His head and the cup are tilted at about the same angle.
Tell him hello from Minnesota.
And a nice crisp salute to him too.

Jerry I appreciate the humor and you bring up a good point.
The cup was for those occasions when the pneumonia acted up
and he had to spit without getting out of his new girlfriend's sight.
You know, she might not understand at her young (61) age! ;)
I will certainly pass on the salutes from everyone!
To me it is nice to know that true heroes still walk among us.
Although Derek Jeter is from my home state.

Royse, tell uncle Frank hello for me. I was also in Korea in 52 / 53. We may have cross the same path.
Good luck to you, don t give up. Photo

Kinda cool having old guys like that around. Because of my dads service I met and knew people who were combat veterans of WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. My dad, a WWII combat vet lost a leg between the knee and ankle, did not see combat after WWII. He retired in 71. I laugh at people who have port figures as heroes. I grew up around people who served our nation. They were my heroes. And the guys who fought and laid it all on the line were my biggest heroes. And to think that some of these people did so in all three wars is amazing. Our young people, today who have stayed in and pulled multiple deployments, reenlisting and going back time and again are just as impressive.
