Ears of corn growing from top of tassel?

Wondering what you guys think of this or if you have ever seen it before. I have a food plot at my deer camp that I planted corn at. I found about a half dozen ears of corn that are growing/ hanging from the top tassel. The seed that was planted (round-up ready seed) is the same seed that I used on all my other main big fields at other locations and none of those fields have this going on, just at deer camp plot. What would cause those ears to grow hanging on the tassel? I have a few photos of it on my phone but don't have the cord I need to plug it into this computer.

The corn is trying to return to it's ancestorical state.

The first corn grown had the ears on the tassels way back many moons ago.

So the gene although weak is still there to do so.

So this genetically modified corn still try's to put an ear there when conditions are right.

Strawberry popcorn seems to be quite primitive. Not only will it grow ears of corn from the tassle, it will also sometimes try to grow 2 ears of corn in the same shuck. Kind of like siamese twins. Very interesting and fun to grow.

I know I see that every now and again when combining. Just a deviation. Corn plant is kinda a funny beast. The collar at every leaf has the potential for a ear but the plant will only set on what it "thinks" it can support at the time of "setting on" the ear. This is why weather is so important in early and mid July.

These guys about have it explained. I remember seeing such stuff in the corn all my life. Not so common now with the hybrid corn that is produced .
Basically it is just a genetic throwback to the original genes of the corn plant. Keep in mind, that corn is a totally domesticated plant, that has been modified by man for thousands of years. It is totally helpless with out our help. it has no seed dispersal. the ear will just hang there, then drop. Have you ever seen an ear that is trying to sprout after laying on the ground for a while? doesn't do well.
