I like the little tractor and the way you start it. Pretty cool safety feature for back in the day.
Anyway, it has an oil leak from the rear main. How hard would it be to fix? I'm assuming I have to split the tractor.

Before going in after the rear main leak... First be sure it is engine oil, could be transmission oil. Either would drain out the same place. Transmission seal is much easier to replace, but still requires splitting the tractor.

Back to the engine seal, a couple of things to check.

Be sure the oil is not overfull.

Be sure the oil isn't coming from above and draining down from the valve cover or the oil pressure gauge line.

Check the crankcase vent, be sure it isn't clogged.

How is the rest of the engine's health? Good oil pressure? Blowby? Deep engine knocks, especially on cold start up or heavy load?

A badly leaking rear seal can sometimes be a symptom of a more serious problem. If there are other problems, the seal will fail again. Might run it awhile, see how things look. If no other problem arise might want to try a rear seal. It's a rope seal, it may have been improperly done previously, especially if the engine has recently been gone through.

I am pretty sure my TO20 with Z120 has a lip seal that is 360 degrees around the crank shaft so yes tracter has to be split to replace seal.
There is rope or string packed between rear main cap and block to seal that portion. Check the rear main carefully when apart. Do the stuff Steve said first.

Duner is right. It is a lip seal. You do have to split the tractor but you do not have to disturb the crank to get the seal out. The seal is in a plate that bolts to the back of the block. Eight bolts if I remember right. Two of them are from the inside of the block out and the rest are from the outside in. Pretty amazing that while everyone else was using rope seals Continental was using a more modern lip seal on the cranks. It would take the auto industry almost 40 more years to catch on to using a lip seal on the rear mains.

Thanks everyone.
I'm pretty sure it's motor oil, drip, drip, drip when it's running, however the hydraulics are not working right now either. Before it would lift the disk, but "clatter". Now it won't lift anything.
I've been using the little tractor as a trailer tractor, but would like to fix it up.

Check your hydraulic oil level. If it is your hydraulic oil leaking, that would explain why your hydraulic quit lifting.
