What color did the radiator come when the G was new, Black or Persian Orange? When painting a radiator is any special paint required or will good old enamel work?

Radiator shops use a black of some sort, so it has better heat transfer.

Unaware of OEM color but a moot point as you will not find Persian Orange radiator paint.

Radiators should be painted with radiator paint, which is thinner than conventional paint to facilitate heat transfer.

That said, you will not have issues on a show tractor if you do not use radiator paint on your radiator.

I have a '48 G, in sad shape but original. The upper tank and sides had orange paint. Only what shows between the fenders and hood.

As far as I had noticed on originals that I have seen, they came from the supplier painted black, were then installed in the tractor and everything including the steering wheel was painted. Often the orange paint would chip off of the radiator showing the black underneath.
