6610 tire size saga

One of the PO"s changed tires and wheels off a 5000 onto my 6610, I have no idea why. I have been trying to get wider tires on it. The current tires are 15.5x38, it is 27" to the center, the next size is 16.9x38, which is 32" center.

This will be too high, so I will try to switch to 6610 wheels and rims next year.

I am thinking of going to 18.4 x 34

16.9-30 is generally the nominal size fitted on most of those things around here but it could vary anywhere between 14.9-38 and 18.4-34. 16.9-38 is probably a bit tall but not a whole lot taller than the 18.4-34... That said, if it was originally geared for a 15.5-38/16.9-30 sized tire... it's going to be a speed demon with 34's or a tall 38.

You are right, the parts book calls out 14x30 or 15x30 rims.

You could also go with 16.9x34's, if 18.4's are too tall.
