There is a small airport, Sky King airport named after an old TV series, within a mile of my workshop. I saw this helicopter come and go many times today carrying. I snapped a pic with cell phone. Not the best quality.

Well I just had to find out what the helicopter was doing, so I went to the airport. They said the pilot was trimming trees next to the power lines. The pole has a 24 inch saw blade powered by a briggs.

When I was at the airport, the helicopter landed to do repairs on his saw. I wish I could have gotten closer to get a pic. The guys at the airport said the pilot is also a crop duster and he said trimming power lines was safer than crop dusting.

out of the blue of the western sky comes Sky King. I watched it when I was a kid. He had a niece named Penny. I thought she was pretty. Where are you located? Ellis

that outfit is quite the contraption! and takes one heck of a pilot to operate it. last year they were trimming the overhead lines near my house and landed in my yard to service the helicopter and saw rig. I've never had so many neighbors at my house as I did that day!

The airport is 3 miles north of Terre Haute, In off old us 41 north. Locals call it Clinton rd, not after the president. The road goes to Clinton, In.

A few weeks ago they were using one of these to trim trees getting ready to expand the bike path. The pilot was working near Bellefontaine, OH, just north of me here in Springfield, OH. The saw machine caught, causing Helicopter to crash. Not sure exact details but think the cable was to release but obviously did not. Last I heard pilot survived but will be paralyzed.

I seen one near my job site. I was very interested in watching, but too scared to get close. Im not sure if it was low skill level or wind but he'd only cut 10-15 feet at a time and go up, swing around and come back again.
