looks like the EPA is @ it again-they got rid of R-12, went to R-134A because of envirmental concerns, and now thats not good enought now there changing again. pretty soon all that will be left is to roll your car windows down and open your house windows and enjoy the heat while the ice caps get bigger.

(quoted from post at 16:03:36 09/16/14) Good Lord!

Will the nonsense never end!?

Dean
ot until the worthless elected congress stops abdicating their duties & stops relinquishing same to a hoard of bureaucrats who are allowed to make law (call it 'rules', but have the full force of the law backing them up). They stay too busy fund raising & trying to keep their sorry arses in office to actually perform their elected duties!

i knew a couple of years a go 134A was on it's way out. They claim it is causing global warming.

The new freon ( I forgot the number)is going to be twice as high as 134 and is flameable.

Sounds to me like old machines that originally were on R12. Won't work with the new stuff as the pressures are too high.

Don't know if I would stock up on 134. I know a guy that stocked up on R12. Now he is stuck with it as everyone converted to 134.

John deere doesn't make hoses with R12 fittings anymore. If you blow a hose you have to convert to 134A.

You nailed it, brother. These agencies produce no product or service; they can justify their jobs only by continuing to stir the pot.

No John, about everything ! We do no good by staying quiet, we also do no good voting because different faces have the same agenda, milk the public and do ourselves the most good . Other countries do SOMETHING, be it insurrection or strikes. I know this will be deleted, but, it is true.

He should have no problem selling R12 if the price is right... Find how what he will take for it...

If you have a sideways can puncher doesn't matter what kind of can you have. My brother was putting LPgas in his air-conditioner 40 yrs ago. I thought it was kinda dangerous, but he is still here. Vic

If you need some R12 just get it from Mexico. They didn't get the memo to stop making it.

Now thats what I've been told. Yea, thats what I've been told.

134A is being replaced because it causing gobal warming. R12 was replaced because it was distroying the ozone layer.

Of course it will be more expensive! Any time changes are made because the new product will be more "environmentally friendly" the price goes up. And if it is govt. mandated it just gives them a blank check that we have to pay.

John T, my thoughts exactly. When they replaced R-12 with R-134a I wondered, "How long before they find something wrong with this one?"

You are soo correct and a lot of old cars still use it and they still get into front end accidents and it all goes up in the air so they gained nothing!! people don't let refrigerant loose, accidents do and it's gone in seconds. The only reason they require liscensing for anything is so they can regulate it , recieve money from it and have someone to hold accountable in court.
