Cherry Tomato Plants

Every year a few cherry tomato plants comes up somewhere where you would think nothing would grow. This plant gets no water. This time of the year the ground is very dry. Dad would be happy to know his old disc is good for something. My wife bought a tomato plant and even with continued watering didn't do good. Stan

I have some volunteer cherry tomato plants in my garden also, a variety called "Green Godess". After they turn a lighter green or slightly yellow, they are very good. We have had a lot more rain than usual this year, my green beans are producing better than any previous year.
 
Throw some water to it and you will have a BIG plant. LOL We bought a couple of flats of tomato plants from the horticulture class at a local school a few years ago, end of season and they wanted to clean house. Turned out that about a dozen of the plants were cherry tomatoes of different varieties. Some of those things were almost like candy.
 
That is just great, especially since your other tomatoes failed. They are small but good eating. Hopefully the frost will hold off a while, and you will get some good out of them. My neighbor was telling me tonight, that he had some ice in some rain water, in a bucket Friday morning. I never have known him, to lie, but here in western Washington, it doesn't seem likely.
 
ya, plant them once and you will get them forever and everywhere.......
pretty handy though. working and stomach starts growling....just look around. ah, there we go, snack time.
 
My dad used to plant cherry tomatoes. He also planted some tomatillos which was over 16 years ago. Yesterday I was cutting some grass out a ways from where the garden used to be and there was a couple of plants, of course they have seeds galore in them so Im not surprised a few popped up here and there.
