Ground bison!

Mixed with a little blue cheese and made into patties, cooked outside over a smokey wood fire. Served on a grilled bun with a slice of your favorite vegetable...tomato is my preferred. Nothing else. Dang those are good!

Finally had our Labor Day cookout today. Didn't get one tenth of the work done I wanted from the crew before feeding them. Ground was a little squishy in places from all the rain. Otherwise a really nice day...worth waiting thru two rain delays. Corn is about 8' high and seems to like the moisture...so it ain't all bad I guess. Soybeans look like the devil though. Last cutting of hay is gonna be a little thin too from the looks of it.

I finally got 13 acres of hay baled today. I cut it yesterday. I knocked down another 12 this morning. It was a little rattily tonight already. Hope I can get it tomorrow before it rains. Hoping to get another 38 down this weekend and baled first of the week. That'll just leave 43 to cut yet.
I checked some corn tonight for the first time. The picking corn is filled out nice, about 75% dented. The silage corn is phenomenal. It's a special silage variety to begin with. The ears are as far over my head as any corn I've ever had to reach up to. Just a few kernels starting to dent in that.

It's not bison but I did make fried deer liver sandwiches for supper.
A couple of slices left over so I might have a cold one for breakfast tomorrow too.
