O.T. 8 bolt pickup rims

I have a trailer made out of a 78 F250. It has 16.5" wheels on it. To make finding tires easier, I want to switch to 16" wheels. My neighbor has some that he says were on a Chevy. He said the bolt pattern is the same, but the pilot diameter is slightly larger. My thought is that the studs with the conical lug nuts carry all the load and if there is a 1/32" clearance, there might as well be a 1/4" clearance between the pilot hole on the wheel and the hub. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks, Roy

Yep, done that without any problems. Cut the hole larger and bolt them on. Just like putting Ford 8 hole rims on a chevy. Make sure the offset is similar so the rims dont hang up on the brakes.
