Twist Link Belts

In order to replace the broken generator built on my IH300U, the water pump belt has to be removed. The set screw and pulley collar were both not only rusted in place but painted over. That meant either busting knuckles or a complete front end tear down to get it loose. And a least one full days work.
IH wanted $16 for a new belt, $5 at the hardware, either way was a lot of work.
Harbor Freight had the adjustable link built for $24 and with my 25% coupon it was $18.
I got the link belt home, took it apart a few times so I knew how to do it and it ten minutes I had it on the tractor. The belt ran smooth with less wabble than the rubber belt.
This tractor is my forklift and I used it the rest of the day moving some old concrete pieces from the barn back to the creek and the belt gave no problems what so ever.
I read a post from a guy who has had one of these belts on a Farmall A for 5 years.

There are two mfg. of the belts, one is green and one is red, they are both good belts.

Connecting the two ends of the belt while its on the tractor is the only difference from this instructional video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLkHa257vmw
If you can't stand the thought of having some "new fangled" gadget on your tractor then pass it up.
If you want to replace your gen belt in ten minutes then give it a try.

Twist link belts are great I use them on my Table saw, planer and Jointer. and also had one on my 52 8n with a wagner loader I could replace it without removing the pump and shaft.

We also use them on our sop tools; one big reason is you can have them ready to be made into any length you want. Shaper, air compressor, table saws, fork lift, planers--no need to lose production while someone runs to town to get a belt.

Not anything new. Dad use to replace the generator
belt on a DC Case with link belt in the 60s. I used
it on a DC we restored in 2007 just to promote the
product. Works great.

Got one on our feed grinder/mixer running the auger off the hammer mill into the mixer. I don't feel like taking half the other belts, chains and shafts off to get this belt in there.

Buddy of mine works for the county road dept and uses those belts on some of the older backhoes to save a bunch of time and aggervation removing the oil pump drive to slip a belt in there.

Greatest idea since sliced bread. Better belts with less vibration. Love them. I'm sure there are times they are the wrong choice, but I can't think of any.
