The Minneapolis tractor pictures

Here are a couple of pictures of The Minneapolis tractor. The two large ones look to be the same size. The little one must be for the small farmer.
I think they are in the years of 1918 and 1923. The Rock island one, not sure of the year. The pictures were taken at the LE SUEUR County Pioneer Power Association parade in Minnesota.

I had the opportunity to watch one of the owners starting one of those old tractors at the Rough and Tumble show this year. Not an easy task! They have a long bar that notches into the flywheel. They first line up the timing marks on the flywheel, then give it a big pull. Takes a lot of pull to get it going. When everything is just right, the engine will fire, and then it will get going from there. Quite a process.

The Heider is my neighbor. Loren and his friend Glennis. Two days before the show I talked with him in the parts store. He was getting some radiator stop leak to pour in. Just discovered the leak when he was going to load it on the trailer. Hoped it would hold long enough so he could run it in the show parade. Will fix it right this winter.
