Dave: Is it too early to start talking about sending a load of shagbark nuts? eMail is open.

I don't know, honestly. The weather this year has really put a damper...no pun intended...on my recreational time here. Was supposed to be there today, grilling bison burgers and doing the stake out for a new barn, but woke up to a heavily overcast day with chance of showers most all day. So today I stay here and try to replace the top to our deck. Maybe I'll get a cheese sandwich for my trouble..LOL!

I will tell you that there are a few black walnuts hanging on the trees but not the crop we had last year. Some walnuts have already dropped most of their leaves...typical for a wet cold summer. I have not noticed the hickories holding a lot of nuts but I will have a look on the next nice day. I have two huge shagbarks trees on what we call "the old lane", so called because it dates back to the original farmstead circa 1836. I can check those for you. Younger trees in the woodlot probably doing better but there are a LOT of squirrels in there. If I can get em, I will box them up for you. Give me a few days and I will check out the prospects.

We had a pretty good storm front come thru mid-Michigan. 3/4" rain. Some tree damage. Broke one branch off black walnut, big as yer arm. Lots of walnots falling prematurely, even before storm.

I don't know how much rain we got from that storm. I had a little bit in the gauge from those few showers the last few days, but there was 1.4 in there total when it was over. We went to Burley Park to the flea market. We were almost to the truck when the rain started there, but it was over before I even drove out to the exit. We drove in to the back side in just a few miles. It was really coming down in Amble and for a little ways east of there.
I went down 91 to TSC,no rain all the way. Got home,it hadn't rained yet. I unloaded my plunder and was going to back the 1850 up in front of the shop and change a hose but it was looking black then. I checked the radar and it was almost on top of us. When it hit,it hit hard. I was sitting here in my recliner with my eyes closed and heard the sump pump kick on and off several times.
