JDseller posted earlier about Titan Machinery. I heard about the company a couple years ago and was totally baffled when I looked at a map of their store locations. JDs posts are usually well thought out. So, I googled Titan Machinery Company PROBLEMS. It looks to me if they raised their parts 241% they would still be in trouble.

Maybe Mother Deere will learn something from this and stop letting some of these Deeremart Superstores get so big. There's one in west Michigan and northern Indiana with 16 locations now.
Will they learn though? Naw.

When you own all the stores in a given area you eliminate a lot of competition. So you are able to set the prices at whatever level you want, which would normally be high.

Next the big Deere stores will add a grocery wing like the Superwalmarts. One stop shopping.

Luckily for me, D & G in Corunna still treats me pretty good. As for AIS (John Deere construction) you've seen my opinion on those guys more than once.

The CaseIH operation here nearly spans the state. The Deere store chains here are not on that level. People need to worry about CNH because if we are in for a decade or more of lean times the temptation will be there for CNH to thin the herd aggressively as both CIH and NH product lines overlap substantially. There might be far less competition amongst their own dealers.
