Allis Chalmers 190xt series 3

I have a 190xt that is giving me problems right now. When I go to engage the pto, it does not engage gradually as I pull the lever. Instead it engages abruptly when the lever is pulled completely forward. Also the pto does not stop when the lever is disengaged, unless there is pressure on the pto. It just started doing this after my brother forced the lever forward to engage the pto, rather than doing it gradually like your supposed to. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

It sounds like warped plates to me. It usually takes heat from slipping to do this. You may want to post on the AC forum and get more specific advise.

Don't you have to push the clutch pedal down to engage those? I thought the only way they had live power was to put the high/low in neutral?

His might have the hyd PTO which was an option.
