jd. 4010 clutch

Clutch smells like it was burning. Started all
of a sudden. Feels like there is some back
pressure when I press clutch but only for a
moment then seems fine. Tractor shifts gears
and drives. Could this have been caused by some
one riding the clutch to much and it got hot
and glazed.

My 1st thoughts are to check clutch pedal free travel. IIRC 1-3/8 travel of pedal before throw out brg contacts PP fingers.

grease the clutch bearings underneath and quick. Use the best you can buy. You might save it. My throw out bearing seized up, burned the clutch fingers off. The bearing was shot but I could have kept it going longer till the winter. Who knew.
