Not happy with YT co. customer srevice!

Bought a heavy duty front bumper for 8N and got it yesterday in rough condition. Looked like it was painted by a five year old with a spray can of paint!(drips and bare spots)Outside edges were scraped and scuffed from being shipped with out any type of covering! Called customer service and was told by rep that this was expected due to bumper not being OEM!

That's about the worst customer service I've heard of!

I bought a bumper from TSC in 99 for my 9n. The paint all fell off after the first rain!

I bought everything to rebuild the motor in my 51 to 35 and a new gas tank from yt and I was sent double of everything except the rear rope seal. I called them and told them what had happened and was told I "better" return the doubles, when I asked where the rear rope seal was that came in the set I was told it doesn't and they don't sell it I am just out of luck. They didn't even know they sent me over $900 in parts and then acted as if I stole them.

No defense for bad service so I won't defend that, but the paint issue may be simple. I have bought after market IH parts at shows like Red Power. The paint was terrible. I was told that it was cheap paint applied to stop rust only and you were kind of expected to blast it off and paint it properly. The guy had a good story...I think he was on the level.

I ordered clutch discs from YT for my tractor, and the service was prompt and the price was good. No complaints from me.

Oh for cripes sake I have never bought a part that had a quality paint job, like another poster said they only put a cheap coat on to keep it from rusting. Personally I prefer it that way as it makes it easier to prep and paint with the paint of your choice. If it had a good paint job you would probably b1tch that it didn't match the color of your paint.

Cuz primer doesn't stop rust.

How much did you pay for it? Probably bought it from the cheapest place too, right?

I agree there's no excuse for bad customer service.

There's also no excuse for seeking out the cheapest price on something, and then b!tching that it isn't top quality. If you want top quality, pay for top quality. Then when it comes with bad paint all scratched up you have a leg to stand on.

OEM alway's has to be sanded and painted just like the aftermarket one you bought. Sometimes they are primered and sometimes it's a coat of cheap paint that must be removed so you can apply the finish. It's just a fact of life so don't get mad at the vendor over something they have no control over.

iF You paid $600 bucks for it, you should be pioood.. But for a cheap after market part that comes that way from the factory, your expectations are totally out of line. Its not a car.. its a steel part with barely enough paint to keep some of the rust off. YT doesnt make it. They only sell it, exactly the way it comes. Get over yourself. Buy a can of spray paint from tractor supply and make it any color you want and put several coats on it.

I see your frustration but as was said below pretty much standard work is sand off all that primer that you don't know what type of primer and it is just a coating for shipping. The imported bare metal parts are worse as they are coated in some type of fish oil that takes a whole can of prep-sol to remove. But you would need to sand it anyway.

Do you go to a parts recycler and buy a used part all covered with grease and rust and expect them to clean it up and paint it? Heck, if the bumper had a coat of quality paint which would require special packaging, you would be complaining about the shipping costs.

like said, it's just a coating to stop surface rust after manufacturing.....better than oil.
Most parts are dipped, not sprayed, after making them, so runs are inevitable.
They are actually trying to do tractor owners a favor by making it sorta tractor colored.
Ya know...tractor... hang it as is, and throw your chains on it, it's a mess like the rest of the working tractor in 5 minutes anyway.

pretty tractor? course yer gonna paint it to match anyway.

They probably should just coat em all flat black like auto and steel parts. Then everybody knows you have to paint it.
