And Then The Rains Came

Wont that make for a better wheat crop??? You dry land guys need all the moisture you can get most years. don't you???

Never comes when you want it to. I cut hay last Friday. We didn't get an hour of cumulative sunshine since then. Just cloudy and super humid. Yesterday was supposed to be the pick day of the week. I'll bet we didn't get 20% sunshine all day. I didn't want to risk it laying there anymore since it was already brown and had new growth coming right up through it.
I raked it with the V rake yesterday morning, went right back out after dinner and turned it with the Kuhn. I started right in baling as soon as I was done,it was plenty dry.
But guess what it looks like out there this morning? Not a cloud in the sky,low humidity. If I had baled it too damp then got a day like this,I'd have REALLY been miffed.
Oh well,it'll be nice to haul it on the only sunny day we've had this entire summer.

Too much here sometimes in dryland Sask. . Over five inches on the weekend. Lots of plant disease from too wet and lots of lodged crop. Many wet spots to get stuck with swathers and combines. The municipality is spending a small fortune pumping water to keep the more important roads from being submerged.

I've totaled up just over 5 inches in as many days. But the sun is shining this morning and that worries me. I've seen every major drought start just like this.
